Is the coffee you drink stale?

At Planet Java, we order our coffee direct from the roaster on Friday, it's roasted on Monday and ships Tuesday.  We receive it on Wednesday. At Planet Java, we do this every week.

Coffee is freshest 2 days after roasting, allowing it to degas.  It should be used within two to three weeks for maximum freshness. Coffee is like a sponge and will absorb odors. It should be ground just before brewing.

Can you imagine how far in advance you would have to roast coffee beans for 6000+ chain locations?  How old do you think the coffee is at *$?  Sure it could be vacuum sealed, but if you wanted vacuum sealed coffee, you could get that at the local grocery store by the name Foldgers or Maxwell House for a fraction of the price.
